I Have Created An Avatar Of Myself!!! Ha! Ha!
So I am continuing on with the second half of my class that I started in the fall, 21 Things for 21st Century Teachers. As part of Thing 13 I had create an avatar to represent myself, give it a voice, and post it to my Face of the Classroom site. This was actually quite fun, so I hope you enjoy it! Click on the play button to hear my voice. If you see it, please let me know, cause I cannot! Grrrr, technology!
My Family -
This is my family. On top of having the best job in the world, I am also the proud mother of five children and now the grandmother to Addison Olivia, born June 22rd this year. This picture is at our daughter and son-in law's baby shower in May this year. Kirstyn is in the striped dress and Rafael is behind her. My youngest daughter, Tera is next to my husband, John. My middle daughter, Kate is in black and the tall, bearded man is my oldest son, Kevin. My youngest son, John is not pictured. I am very blessed. Kirstyn, Raffy and Kevin live in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, respectively. Kate lives in Xenia, Ohio and Tera and John are here in Michigan.

Things I Enjoy In My Off TimeWhen we are not traveling, with or without our children, I enjoy quilting, sewing things for the new grand baby, arts and crafts, canning, gardening, walking my dogs and cooking.

Late summer and early fall I love to can. My family really enjoys Mexican salsas so I make lots of different kinds from mild to hot, red to green. I also can tomatoes, peaches and pears when I can get them and jelly.

Ellie - This is my husky-shepherd mix. She is quite the character. To say she is "on the spectrum" is an understatement! Her claims to fame are her ability to de-squeek a toy in 30 seconds or less, her determined belief that she really is the size of a squirrel hidden in a 50 pound body, and her charming personality, even though she lacks personal space!

This is Maddie our classroom therapy dog. Here she is doing her "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" impersonation. Maddie is my personal dog and certified through Therapy Dog's International (TDI). She comes to school once a week. She also goes to hospitals, church and nursing homes. She loves her job!

21 Things for 21st Century Educators -
So I joined Mr. Inhulsen in taking a course through Oakland Schools titled "21 Things for 21st Century Educators". The first semester we are taking the first 10 sections and includes webinars, lots of homework and experimenting in different websites, creating a blog and a school website and then getting feedback on how it is going. So I will be sharing some of the things I am learning with you. Feel free to make comments and suggestions! Here we go!!!!
This is a program called Piktochart. I used our therapeutic riding program as my focus. I also used a program called Wordle which you can see in the middle of the picture that takes words and puts them into a "puzzle". The most used words are larger and the less used words are sized according to usage. If I did it correctly, you should be able to click on the green words and be linked directly to their site. The bottom right hand picture is a link to the YouTube video that was done on our "Hugs For Horses" program a few years ago. Just click on the arrow.
QR Code -
This is a QR code that IF you have a QR reader should take you directly to my email address. This seems to be more "secondary" oriented but, hey, I learned something new!
