The Detroit Zoo
We had a great time at the Detroit Zoo!!!! It was not too warm and not too cold. It was not too sunny and not raining. It was just right and the animals were out and active everywhere we went! Going on the coach bus was a thrill by itself and not having to rush through our day based on school bus hours was wonderful! We were able to see almost all of the animals. More pictures to follow.

I Am Almost Done With My Class!!!! YEAH!!!!
My latest work has been with the "blended or flipped" classroom. More appropriate for upper elementary and secondary, I had to be creative and put together a video of something that "you" can help support at home as an example of learning online and getting support of learning in the classroom. So we are working with plant lifecycles right now and will be growing bean plants. The attached video could be used to inform you of what lifecycles are and their connection to the world around us.

We had such a good time pouring the mix and milk, cracking eggs, mixing and cutting the hot dogs.

Pictures From Our Halloween Celebration!
Our party was fun with a "ghost and pumpkin" hunt, cupcakes, our Chex mix, Frankenstein juice boxes and cookies. We watched Charlie Brown while we ate. Due to the inclement weather our parade was inside in the commons. It was fun looking at everyone's costumes!
We were busy this week making all kinds of Halloween crafts. We made a jack-o-lantern candle holder and bell, a goblin using a candy bar, a "glue" ghost and a picture frame from our pumpkin carving the other day. This morning we made Halloween Chex mix for the party. Everyone had a great time helping measure and stir the ingredients.

Sensory Fun!!!
We have lots of sensory things going on this week in our classroom! We have a new corn pool (thanks to Emma's dad who donated 100 pounds of shelled corn). The children are really enjoying sitting, measuring and playing in the corn. We slimed around and pulled pulp and seeds out of a pumpkin on Tuesday and then cleaned up by playing in shaving cream! Everyone loved the different textures! We are cooking the seeds for a snack.
Cooking -
We love to cook in our classroom!!! We try to cook at least once a week. This activity not only strengthens math and language skills, it also works on listening, sequencing and following directions. You may think your child is a picky eater but, when they make it themselves, you will be surprised at what they will try!

We made apple trees for snack this past week using Ritz crackers, peanut butter, pretzel sticks and M&M's! Sticky and messy fun was had by all!
